Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
